TheTravelsketcher’s Tuesday Tip

Art is about observing, if we can’t find something to sketch we are just not looking.

We tend to overthink or look for the “perfect” scene. Zoom in, or sketch a detail instead of trying to sketch everything you see.

Yesterday I was sitting at Le Cave des Pas Sages – this was my view. A great place to sit and watch people but too busy for a sketch at the moment.

So I zoomed in, if you have a viewfinder it can help.

Then I added people walking by and a person who sat at the cafe, it worked out quite well.

Hope you are finding these tips helpful, and of course I would love to see what you do. On Instagram #thetravesketcher or send an email, it’s at the bottom of my blog.
