Don’t draw the fleas before you draw the cat.

I can’t wait to see the comments and thoughts on what this means in sketching. Let me know what you think.

  1. Hi Terry,

Would you please send me you PDF book – The Travelsketcher’s Guide to Travel and Sketching?

  2. Well, I’m not a sketcher, but I do get the reference. However, I mostly see our sweet baby bud, who we miss so much. Best cat ever!

  4. Well I’m certainly no artist, sketching or otherwise, but before retirement I was a businessman and could essily have used this phrase as a corporate mantra!

    1. It is interesting that no artists have made comments to explain. Interesting, I guess I will explain the artist application in next week’s post. Thanks so much.

That’s an amusing way to suggest that the big parts of the composition are drawn in first.
