A couple of paintings from our time in Giverny, before heading to Paris.

In Paris, the traffic was bad thanks to the start of the Paris 2024 Olympics crowd, but we finally made it to Gare de Lyon.

We had a nice afternoon break.

The next day, Friday, we took the train to Annecy. One thing I have missed living in Normandie is the mountains, so the Alps were a welcome sight from the café.

Annecy is an old town, with quite a history. Since it is so close to Geneve and Switzerland the architecture has that mountain village look and wonderful canals.

Saturday was quite hot, so we sat under an umbrella at a cafe; Tricia wrote and I sketched the hat stall in the market.

The food here is so good, a bit too much cheese, not for my taste but for my health.

And, of course, in Annecy folks take their break from work.

Today we will visit a couple of churches, and I think Tricia and I will both collect images of interesting shutters on the windows. With our train tomorrow a 06.53 we need an early evening and must be packed.
I hope your journeys are safe and smooth, and as always, I hope you get a chance to sketch a bit. Thanks so much for joining us on this adventure.
Delightful! We’re visiting Annency in early September

I know what you mean about the mountains. After living in Houston for three years we took I-10 west and it was SOOOO nice to finally see mountains again when nearing New Mexico.

The Southeast part of France has its own unique charm and beauty. Annecy looks like a lovely place–and what fun and vibrant sketches–like the one of someone relaxing while watching hats sell at the market. Your sketches just add to our LOVE for France. We look forward to Christopherson photos and sketches of shutters–(which would make a beautiful book). The photo of that tartilette (?) made my mouth water. Slightly different reaction to other photo: you and your love for steak tartare!!!!

Love, love, love your sketch of the hat stall in the market. It is so lively and colorful. The way you placed the two figures at the forward left makes the composition perfect. It is a wonderful sketch. (And all of the others are pretty damn good, too!)
