One of the reasons we chose The Pearl district of Portland is that it does have a bit of a Parisian ambience. Here is my view as I write.

A cobble stone – technically basalt stones that were originally used as ballast on ships – tree-lined streets, bicycles, people walking, and sitting outside at a cafe. The red-brick building on the right is our building, I am at Sister’s Coffee – complete with an insulated cup so my coffee stays hot, which is a bit unParisian but it works well here.
It was a good week. We continue to swim at the club just a couple of blocks away. Yesterday I met up with Tim for a few minutes, and then we had a delightful FaceTime call with our Japanese daughter, Saori.
The weather has been perfect, Tuesday I went over to Tanner Springs Park, a place with an interesting history, which I think Tricia will be blogging about one day – there was a time when this was the center of the leather industry in Portland.

It was the first time I took my Guerrilla Pochade box out, a few logistics needed to be sorted (nods to my UK friends), but it worked quite well. So yesterday I went out again, a few adjustments to the setup, and a different view. I think this will work.

We will be spending a couple of days in Canon Beach next week so hopefully I will have a painting or two from there for next week’s post.
Wherever this finds you, home or on a grande aventure, spring or fall, I hope you have a bit of time for friends and family, some good food, and time for a sketch.
I will be modifying the pages on my blog, adding a for sale page. There will be original paintings available, and printable downloads. I will also post my ebook for free download.

Great description of a perfect day–whether in Paris or The Pearl. Similar lifestyle, outdoor cafes, coffee, people to observe and sketch.
Life is good!

It is, and it is the little joys that matter the most.

There is a feel of Paris in The Pearl. We have a beautiful start to Good Friday here with morning sun. I have 10 days holiday now, perhaps a time to try to sketch…(I did a couple of atrocious things the other weekend which I can’t even show to myself….).

I get that, but we are often our own worst critic. I wil post something on IG that I think is not very good and it gets 50 likes, go figure. Try for something once a day, even just a five minute thing, you can do this.
