We spent most of the week out of The Pearl. We discovered the Otter Crest Loop on our last trip to the coast, and stumbled upon The Inn At Otter Crest, so back we went for three nights, how could we resist since they were offering a stay-two-nights-get-the-third-free promo. It was a bit cool when we got there, yet the view from the deck was irresistible, so out came the paints.

The next day, Tuesday, we went down way too many stairs for these old knees to walk on the beach and try to get into Devil’s Punchbowl since it was low tide. We did not make it all the way in since it required some serious bouldering on rocks that were often slick and foam covered, yet it was quite a memorable place.

Tricia headed off to take photos, you will get to see those next week. My pochade box and I set up on some seaweed covered rocks to paint – plein air is the best.

Wednesday we went to Yaquina Head, famous for seals and the lighthouse; I will most likely get a painting done of that this week.
The sunset on Tuesday was stunning from our deck – a completely enjoyable painting.

Wednesday afternoon we spent a bit of time on the deck, it was quite cold and windy but worth bundling up a bit.

We love the beach, specifically the rugged beaches of the PNW. I have never liked laying on a towel in the sand type of beach experience of Southern California, give me rocks to climb, wild waves to paint any day.
We are back in The Pearl. This morning I was quite productive: two emails to France to clean up some pending stuff, two new tires for the car, an alignment, a car wash, and a stop off at the bank. Next is cleaning my pallet from the week’s painting, it has been a good morning.
We are so blessed and grateful to be able to have all this nature within an hour or so drive. The Pacific Northwest is truly one of the best spots in the world.
I trust your week went well, that you enjoyed some food and friends, and as always capture the moments in pen, ink, or paint.
It really is a stunning place….how lovely to have this close by.

Love this and anything so close to the ocean. You found a great spot from which to watch waves crash over the rocks and to create more of your beautiful sketches. And that sunset…? AMAZING!
