The multiple massive fires, the smoke clogged air-quality, thousands of people fleeing their homes looking for shelter, generations of precious memorabilia wiped out, pets and animals lost or endangered, and fingers pointed in blame furnishes us with a pretty clear metaphor for much that is going on in the world these days.

In my days as a fire system engineer I learned that you extinguish a fire by separating the flame from the fuel, by smothering it so as to remove the oxygen, or to cool it below the ignition point. Travel is like a fire suppression system. So like I quoted last week, “just go.”
