Honfleur and Paris

It has been an active couple of weeks. Last weekend in Honfleur and now in Paris with Tricia’s sister and family. Check out my post on my other site for more about the great food in Honfleur.

Here are some of the sketches I did in Honfleur.

We are staying in the Bastille area of Paris, a different area for us, yet of course since it is Paris there is no shortage of sketching material.

Today, Saturday, we will be visiting the Jardin Tulleries and Musée D’Orsay. Not sure about tomorrow, then we head back to Normandie on Monday morning.

Hope your journeys are pleasant, and memorable.

  1. Beautiful sketches. I always spend a morning or afternoon at the Musée d’Orsay whenever I visit Paris. Always wonderful.

Love your new Paris sketches…are you using a bigger sketchbook?  And so much color!

Is that Bastille the same Bastille as in the storming of the Bastille?

    1. Yes, sort of. The Bastille that was stormed was a fortress and prison. Most people think it was a big thing that they released bunch of prisoners, but there were only 7. Thé fortress was torn down and replaced with a basilica.

Is it just me or are your sketches more perfect every week? Perhaps it’s the inspiration various places in France provide. Whatever….you should think about assembling your lovely sketches into little travelogue type books. Your sketches and commentary capturing memories would make lovely volumes.

Everyone of these sketches is so rich, Travel Sketcher. I looked at your treatment of the chimneys of the buildings in the Honfleur harbor for a good 60 seconds. Masterful.
