We have had a good week in spite of all the negative news going on. We often watch the late night talk show monologues on YouTube since we don’t have live news. “A spoonful of humor helps the yuck go down.” (Apologies to Julie Andrew’s.)
This morning I woke up thinking about the tranquility of the fields that surrounded our home in Normandie, and thinking how nice a quiet walk would be among the cows and hay bales.

Our fields here are a bit different.

We have our own small raised beds, more to come. Growing plants and veggies brings us comfort, regardless of what is going on in the world.
Last Saturday I met up with Tim at The Fields. Tricia joined us a bit later.

The weather is getting better so I am getting ready for some PleinAir excursions. In the meantime I am getting the set up right for my Guerrilla Painter Pochade box by painting Normandie, what a surprise. Oil painting, which I avoided for so long, is such a delight.

We of course find solace in food, cooking for us has never been a chore. Even doing the dishes, (for my UK friends, “washing up”) is not really that odious. We have a lot of favorites, and of course are always trying something new.
My Scots tastes don’t get to have haggis too often, at least not the good stuff, thanks to a bunch of regulations. Thankfully my Norwegian-side tastes are quite easy to satisfy here.

We are continuing to swim three times a week, it feels good. The club is just two blocks away, I do love living in this part of town. We rarely drive anyplace, often just one day a week.
As spring progresses I hope your part of the world is going well, that the negative parts are balanced by art, music, food, friends and family. We are off this afternoon to visit friends, some laughter and music I am sure will be in store. So I hope you have a good weekend, sketch and enjoy life as you can. Thanks as always for following and commenting, it means a lot.
A few followers have asked, and received a copy of the little ebook I did on travelsketching, so if you would like a copy send me an email. Also most everything I post is available, in fact a recent oil painting just found a new home in Seattle.
Did not know you had a Norwegian side – as mine is Estonian and I am just having breakfast, I don’t think you will be too surprised I am having ‘your’ breakfast but with herring and not sardines 🙂 ! My herb pots have five months to wait ere they can be planted . , , yours look ready to go . . . oh, and I do wish the ‘yuck’ would go down better with all the humour but one has to try !!!

Herring is quite nice, I don’t usually eat much breakfast, but it sounds good. We will have tomatoes, and a few other things before we are done. After all we need some good food to get rid of the yuck.

I do love a good sardine. We are away this weekend and I find myself looking at what would make a good sketch…I am looking things in a new way!
