This week in The Pearl – September 17 ,2026

We are getting cooler days, with a couple of 80F days thrown in just for good measure, but autumn is definitely up on us. Found a couple of paintings I did some time ago, which I am sure I have already used, but they just seemed to fit the season.

Next week we are taking a road trip and the first stop will be Mt. Lassen Volcanic National Park. It has hot springs and thermal activity like what we saw in Yellowstone. We have wanted to go for a long time. Here is the mountain, it last was active from 1914 to 1917.

On Tuesday we visited Adam, he is always so inspiring, with all he has been through he laughs and makes us laugh with some of his wild imagination. We talked about volcanoes erupting and bridges being rebuilt, we did laugh a lot.

I continue to do my daily, quick, sketches in my journal.

I started another oil painting. Here is a sketch I did with the basic layout, though I am pretty sure the distant building will not end up in the finished painting. Another tree is the featured object.

We of course cooked and ate good food. Tricia swam a few times and we went on some walks. Other than that, just a normal week in The Pearl. Next week will be a lot busier, and that is just as good.

I hope you are doing well, enjoying the fall colors, or spring for my southern hemisphere friends. And of course take a photo, or do a sketch, or just write down a few thoughts, but capture the moments of the seasons.

Thank you for following, it means a lot.
