This week in The Pearl – May 8, 2026

A good week with friends and family.

Saturday, Alexis and Joe brought two of their friends that were visiting from Chicago over for dinner. We had Tuscan Chicken with orzo, and Tricia made a peach tatin.

Sunday, Tim and Lisa came for Sunday lunch. We had Mediterranean tilapia, and Tricia made a second peach tatin.

Thursday we sat outside on Tim and Lisa’s patio for Happy Hour. They bought the house about two years ago and have turned the yard into a place of tranquil charm, just right for a warm spring afternoon.

We are finishing up the travel details – next week’s post will be from Helsinki. We still watch a few videos on YouTube, I make piles of things to pack, I set the eSims up on our phones, so all that is left is to fill our roller-bags (carry-on size). With the uncertainty in the world at the moment we are glad that we are not checking anything, it is a lot easier if we need to make last minute adjustments.

TheTravelsketcher (moi) is most content when there are new things to sketch. However, yesterday, I sketched a familiar place. This was the route we walked when we lived in Avignon, we turned right at the blue shutters and our door was just a few steps away.

How has your week been? I trust your journey had pleasant times with friends. Keep capturing those moments with “pen, ink, and paint.” Thank you for following, it means a lot.

Getting very touristy these days . . . have a long strong coffee in the Old Town and watch the world go by 🙂 ! If it is raining – have a look whether there is an opera or ballet afternoon performance on at the Estonia Theatre. The Song Festival site is quite impressive and Kadriporg (St Catherine’s Palace’) OK. Methinks there are quite a few ‘cooking lessons’ available for tourists also.
